ESL Assessor

About Course

English ministry is so much more than teaching and school. It is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to extend the grace of Christ to the people from many nations that He has brought to our door. Your role as an Assessor helps them to stick with us. How? By getting a good sense of their language abilities, it helps them to be placed in a class that is neither too easy, nor too hard. This, in turn, helps them want to stick with the hard work of second language learning. And that gives us more time to show them the love of Christ!

This course format is not your typical online learning course. Rather than having piles of content thrown at you, we will invite you to engage from the beginning and often use a “test to learn” method. You’ll actually get to practice assessment skills and make decisions about what you learn and how deep you go. In the end, you’ll have more confidence because you’ll be equipped with the skills and knowledge to be an ESL Assessor.

Purpose Statement

When students sign up for English classes, they need to be assessed in order to determine what level they should be in. When they are in a class that is a good fit for them, it helps them stay with us.
